You may say im a dreamer...

my niece, Alyssa had her first swim meet today. of course, we attended and it was so much fun!! i cannot believe how well she did and when she broke out the butterfly like she had been doing it her whole life, i almost died! seriously, i was floored. On top of being super stoked about her new "talent", i was also a teensy-tiny-little bit envious. i can remember my very first swim practice..

i am guessing i showed a lot of interest in swimming after i found out my best friend Alexia was going to be on the city swim team. so my parents dropped me off. i can remember being so exited and nervous. when i arrived everyone had fancy one pieces, swim caps, speedo googles and bags for their towels. my parents (and myself) did not recieve the memo.

they brought me in a TWO PIECE with SUNFLOWERS all over it. seriously? are you kidding me?? I can remember to this day (and literally...to this day- Alexia and i were just talking about this today over the phone) being mortified. also, Alexia pointed and laughed before i could even get one foot in the door. however, i took it like a champ (well, not really...i couldnt leave, my parents had just dropped me off!). i jumped in and have been swimming ever since. and although the two piece was horrible, im glad i showed up.

Alyssa may or may not be a swimmer but after today i think she has a pretty good shot at it. and i was really excited to be there to help her put on her swim cap for the first time (for those of you who have never done this, it can be tricky) but she didnt even have one. so, i was a little bummed. and maybe today i was living out my dream through her a little... maybe? ;)

but whatever it is...swim, softball, cheerleading, dance, baton or basketball, i have a feeling i will be there for as many as possible.

Happy Birthday Kendra!!

It is my sisters bday today and might i add that she is turning 26. She is no longer early twenties...more like 26 going on 60. She really is an Old woman now ;) I am hoping she had a good day and if she didnt, i think we all had enough fun for her this past weekend. We all went out to eat at The Cheesecake Factory, which was amazing, as always. We had great food, tasty dirnks and tons of fun. Kelly, Wes and the girls came down for the event and ended up staying the night. Along with Kendra and David. And i know what you are all thinking??

"Where in the workd did everyone sleep"???

And the truth is, we barely did. I am not sure what time the extravaganza ended and when i woke (on the couch) in the a.m., Wes was on the floor, Josh was curled up in the chair (still dresses in his finest from the night before), AC was in her pack n play in the closet (she likes how dark it gets in there...plus my closet is the largest room in the house), Kendra and David were snuggling on the futon and Kelly and the girls in my bed. Hey! you just work with whatcha got, right? We all had a really fun time and i would have to say that Kendra enjoyed singing "im a little teapot" hand motions and all and i know David enjoyed wearing my purple stilletos. All in all, it was intersting to say the least. Good times with Great people.

here are some photos.

Kids are so honest.

My niece is spending the night with me tonight! We went to the mall to eat dinner with Josh, shopped at Libby Lu for waaay too long, came home and watched some tv and now Ayssa is asleep in our bed. We were sitting on the couch before she fell asleep and she said...

"Yall are like, kinda poor"? I smirked and said "what do you mean"?

I could barely hold in my laughter just wondering where this was leading.

"Well, yall dont have that thing on your fridge that squirts out water into your cup, so yall just have to drink bottle water".

"plus- yall live in this tiny apartment and you really dont have that much food"
I just laughed and said...

"Yeah, you're right".

She and i got to laughing so hard we had to call her mom and tell her!

Then a little earlier I told her that we could all sleep together and she replied...
"my mom said that i cant sleep with boys, only if i am married to them."

I explained to her that uncle Josh really doesnt count but he could just sleep on the couch to give us more room anyways. I have just gotten a kick out of her all day :) we are going to the pool all day tomorrow, so who know what other things she will come up with!

Anniversary

Josh and I spent the day together celebrating our sencond wedding anniversary. We spent the morning at Oak Mountain, which would have been perfect except for the ridiculous Alabama heat. We took the dogs and had lunch there. We also tried hiking however, we didnt make it very far without water or air conditioning. My sister, Kendra told me a few weeks ago that i had turned into a "city girl", and after today, i might agree with her. We wont be going back at least until the Spring. We went out to dinner and had lots of sushi and are planning on ending the day off with three movies we rented. It turned out to be a good day...hot, but good :)

Sugar and Spice and everything nice.

Even though they are not my own... i love them like they are.

"You're Beautiful baby from the outside in.
Chase your dreams but always know the road that'll lead you home again.
Go on, take on this whole world.
But to me you know you'll always be, my little girl".

i love this picture.

Are those tigers really doing that and did you just pee on yourself??

okay, okay...i know! I am COMPLETELY inappropriate. But, I couldnt resist. So basically we went to the zoo this past weekend and had some "sisterly" fun and the tigers had some fun too ;)
